MINISTRY UPDATES AT FIRST PRES
We will have two worship services each Sunday at 9 AM and 11 AM. We will be able to accommodate 120 people at each service. Masks will be required at worship until further notice. You will be asked to register each week to help us better prepare for Sunday. Registration will close at noon on Saturday.
For those continuing to worship from home, we will livestream the 9 AM service on Sunday. You can find our livestream on our website, Vimeo and on Facebook.
We are now providing NURSERY (ages 0-2) and CHILDCARE (ages 3-Kindergarten), in a limited capacity at the 9 AM service ONLY. We will be able to accommodate 10 children in the nursery and 10 children in childcare. You must register your child for nursery or childcare no later than NOON on Friday.
NURSERY: Children ages 0-2 can be dropped off starting at 8:45 AM on the first floor of the Education Building. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing as you drop off your child. Please pick up your child on the first floor immediately following the worship service.
CHILDCARE: Children ages 3-K can be dropped off starting at 8:45 AM on the first floor of the Education Building. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing as you drop off your child. CHILDREN AGES 3-K WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK. Please send a water bottle with your child’s name on it as they may be going outside. Please pick up your child on the first floor immediately following the worship service.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, we are not holding in-person Sunday School, Bible Studies or Sunday Night Programs at the church at this time.
This fall, we are seeking to begin new Vital Groups with 10 to 12 individuals or couples. These groups will meet on Sunday nights from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM in the Education Building. This way, we can socially distance ourselves and only have rooms at the church that need to be sanitized instead of your homes. Childcare can be provided. If you are interested in being a part of this ministry, please contact Steve Wood, Director of Christian Education, at email@example.com or 228-234-9429.
This past weekend, we collected a van full of hurricane relief supplies to aid those affected by Hurricane Laura, which we will be delivering on Tuesday. We will continue to support our friends to the west as their needs evolve in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura. We are accepting hurricane relief monetary donations, and one of our Care Team members will be happy to shop for hurricane relief supplies for you. Text LAURA to 228-206-5391 to make a donation or visit our Give page and select “Hurricane Relief” from the drop-down menu.
There will be NO CHAPEL CLASS for Sunday, September 27, due to Pastor Kory being in Louisiana for Presbytery and to help with hurricane relief. Our video class will return next week.
We’re bringing worship to the outdoors! On Sunday, October 4 at 5 PM, we will be having a special OUTDOOR WORSHIP SERVICE WITH COMMUNION. That Sunday will also be World Communion Sunday, and we can’t wait to share in The Lord’s Supper together again.
We are asking those who plan to attend to pre-register, so we can plan accordingly for that Sunday. The service will be held in the lower parking lot of the church, and parking will be available in the gravel lot. For those who need assistance, we will provide transportation from the gravel lot to the worship service location. Some seating will be available, but we encourage you to bring your own chairs. Social distancing measures will be in place for the outdoor service.
Please RSVP no later than NOON on Friday, October 2. Come as you are for this special outdoor worship service on October 4 – we hope to see you then!
Many people ask: How do I get to know Christ? How do I get to know the will of God? The answer: read the Word! God’s Word is a treasure book for all people. John Piper states, “From Genesis to Revelation, God’s words and God’s deeds reveal God himself for our knowledge and our enjoyment.”
During the month of October, we will be walking through the book of Mark. This one-month self-study will guide us as we read and meditate on God’s Word. Mark uses the word “immediately” 39 times, giving us a sense of the shortness of Jesus’ time on earth and the urgency of Jesus’ message. We see the Son of Man on the move (1-10) and the Son of Man on the cross (11-16).
