Advent is here. This is the season where the church looks forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus. We intentionally take time to look back and remember the gift God gave to us in Jesus – the 2nd person of the Trinity who took on flesh and dwelled among us. In Advent we remember God’s faithfulness and covenantal love in sending his one and only son.

Advent is also a season where we look ahead, anticipating Jesus coming back. We look forward to his return as a day where he will bring an end to sin, evil, and death. It is easy to despair when we read the news of our day. Jesus has conquered sin and death in his first coming and will bring an end to it all in his second coming, where his Kingdom will be established forever.

During the season of Advent, we have many events here at First Pres that you can attend and participate in! Check out all the ways you can plug in during Advent below!

ADVENT DEVOTIONALS

For families with elementary-aged children, we’ve created The Names of God Family Activities and Devotional that you may pick up at our Advent Festival on December 1 or throughout the season of Advent in the narthex or The Commons.

We are also encouraging everyone in our church family to download an Advent devotional to read during the season. Advent begins Sunday, December 1. Here are just a few suggestions for Advent devotionals to download.
