The mission of First Presbyterian Church is to know Christ and to make Christ known together.  We do this in the Children’s Ministry by equipping our children and their families to know, grow and go as disciples of Jesus Christ.

We want children to become followers of Jesus Christ.  Our children’s ministry provides opportunities for children from birth through 5th grade to experience and learn about the love of Jesus and how to receive Him as their Savior and Lord.  Additionally, we are committed to equipping parents to take on this work of discipleship in their homes as well.

Sunday Mornings

All children are welcome and encouraged to participate in worship with their family and friends.  For younger children, we offer children’s bulletins available in the sanctuary entrance area (narthex) with activities that relate to the Scripture passage that day.  Children 3 years old to kindergarten are dismissed to Children’s Church in room 102 – 103 in the education building for a time of worship designed specifically for them.  Any child older than kindergarten is encouraged to remain in the sanctuary to worship with their family and all the church.

Nursery and Toddler Care – Sundays, 8:30 AM – 12 PM

Our nursery is led by loving and consistent caregivers under the direction of our Nursery Coordinator.  Children from birth to 3 years old are welcome in the nursery starting at 8:30 AM.  Click on the + sign to learn more about our nursery policies.

Checking In and Out

For safety reasons, our nursery is only available to parents who will remain on campus for worship and Sunday School.  FPCOS utilizes the KidCheck system for checking children in and out of the nursery.  This secure system simplifies check-ins and also enhances child safety measures!  If you do not already have a KidCheck account, click here to sign up!  After you’ve created an account for you and a separate one for your spouse, it’s as simple as entering in your phone number when dropping off your children!

Well Child Policy

It is our desire to provide a healthy and safe environment for all of the children at FPCOS. Parents are encouraged to be considerate of other children when deciding whether to place a child under our care.  In general, children with the following symptoms within the last 24 hours, at least, should NOT be dropped off:

      • Fever, diarrhea or vomiting within the last 48 hours
      • Green or yellow runny nose
      • Eye or skin infections
      • Other symptoms of communicable or infectious disease

Children who are observed by our workers to be ill will be separated from other children and the parent or guardian will be contacted to request that the child be picked up.

Children’s Church

Children are dismissed from worship after the Message for Young Disciples and brought to room 102 – 103 in the education building.  This is a time of worship designed specifically for them.  Children’s Church affords children the opportunity to sing, hear a Bible story, pray, give an offering and engage in worship in a meaningful way for their age.

Sunday School

We offer Sunday School for children from ages 3 to 5th grade from 10 AM – 10:45 AM each Sunday morning.  In Sunday School, children learn stories from the Bible in engaging ways and apply those lessons to their lives today.  Parents are also invited to participate in one of six adult Sunday School classes during this time as well.

Sunday Nights

Each Sunday Night, children are invited back to FPCOS from 5 PM – 6 PM for a time of fellowship and fun.

3-4 year olds have a time of Growing in God, where they participate in interactive lessons and hands-on activities to learn about God’s love for them.

K-3rd graders take part in our 1st Praise Children’s Choir, where they sing songs, learn about worship, try out different musical instruments and enjoy crafts and games that reinforce lessons on worship and fellowship in God’s family.

4th-5th graders participate in The Summit, a class specifically designed to prepare these tweens for life in middle school and youth group.  Children familiarize themselves with the Bible, memorize Scripture and go on field trips meant to emphasize our fellowship and community in the LORD.

Dinner is also available starting at 6 PM following each of these classes for our children.  We receive donations to offset the cost of the meal.
