Located in Ocean Springs, Sue’s Home is a long-term residential program for women and children.  They accept women who have graduated from residential drug or alcohol treatment facilities or have been released from incarceration. They also accept women and children who find themselves homeless due to various economic situations. They are able to remain in Sue’s Home for 6 months and may, after successfully completing the program, receive assistance with relocation, partial rent and utilities for 3 months.

The Transitional Program is a comprehensive, faith-based program designed to assist women who are dealing with the effects of abuse, homelessness, addictions and/or past incarceration Our desire is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for women and their families as they work to become self-sufficient, productive citizens in our communities and positive role models for their families.

Some of their current needs include: Walmart gift cards, donations for office equipment (they are currently needing a heavy duty multi-function printer), paper products (toilet paper, paper towels), cleaning supplies, nicotine lozenges, over-the-counter allergy medications (ex: generic Claritin and generic Zyrtec), generic Mucinex, small garden tools, ladies garden gloves (size large), and youth groups to help with yard work.

Their staff and volunteers could use your prayers for wisdom and discernment on how to meet the needs of the women and children who enter Sue’s Home, as well as for courage to make the hard decisions as they lead women in recovery and in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Please also pray for God’s protection around the staff and their families, around their hearts, minds and souls. As they make plans for the future of Sue’s Home, pray that they would seek God’s counsel and that He would bring in the right people for the positions to pour into their women and children. Also, they ask that you pray that the community would come alongside Sue’s Home and support them and their services financially. They are specifically praying that God would give them the ability to pay off the remainder of the mortgage on the house this year.

For their residents, pray that they may come to know Christ and forgiveness in their own lives. Pray for the schools their children attend, that the teachers would support and encourage them and create a safe space for learning and growing. Please also pray that the women will find a place of openness and transparency to help them walk out of addiction and walk stronger in their recovery.
